The very essence of its name immediately brings to mind health, harmony and happiness, which leads to a natural state of wellbeing.  Surrounded by 175 hectares of farm land, natural bush and woodland, including hills and seasonal streams. The Sanctuary encourages guests to find new pathway stories in living by offering a range of social and wellness personal and guided activities. The Philosophy of The Sanctuary is to disconnect from the business of daily life and to enjoy being offline unless absolutely necessarily.


To bring The Sanctuary to fruition, the owners have an extraordinary vision of creating a restful place in a totally unspoilt and natural environment.  Through all phases of construction of the facility and its amenities, the environment has been carefully tread upon and great care has been taken not to disturb the natural habitat of existing flora and fauna in all surrounding areas.


Exclusively limited to fifteen well-appointed, fully serviced luxury suites: ranging from self-catering apartments; executive suites; honeymoon suite; garden suites and terrace suites; beautifully designed and serviced to exemplary standards. Personal services such as the provision of fresh farm seasonal produce and laundry are available.


Conferencing needs are taken care of in The Palm Room, which is a dedicated fully equipped conference hall. State-of-the-art equipment is available which includes LCD projector, premium video conferencing equipment and PA system.  This exclusive spacious facility allows for 70 plus theatre seating or 50 conference set-up.


Centrally situated within the various facilities, The Aloe Room restaurant takes care of all dining requirements, offering sumptuous menus that will appease a wide variety of individual tastes. Special meal requirements can be met by prior arrangement.
The fully stocked Peacock Garden Bar adjoins the Aloe Room restaurant with stunning views of the landscaped gardens and surrounding woodlands.
A well maintained swimming pool offers a restful and relaxed atmosphere, specifically for those needing to cool off during the long summer months. A number of outdoor sports and leisure activities including exercise and wellness programmes are on offer through prior arrangement.
Ideal for social events, guests can dine in The Boma garden where meals are cooked over a central fire pit.  Special requests for entertainment can also be arranged.


A working farm services the needs of the restaurant and staff.  Of interest to guests would be the Farm and Woodland guided walks that can be arranged at various times during the day.  Local staff have a wealth of knowledge and experience in organic farming practices and are more than willing to share their successes.  Visitors will be fascinated by the range of farm animals in the breeding cycle of the farm.
The Sanctuary is close to the village of Mwashilumba – meaning ‘to be thankful’ in the local Soli language – aptly describing ‘The Sissing Sanctuary’.
